The T-51 Mustang is produced by Titan Aircraft - http://www.titanaircraft.com/

I'm aiming at building my own as soon as the mortgage is done - which is still years away.

Why do you think the T-51 builders typically use the 2 stroke engines such as the Rotax while the Stewart version used a 600HP Chevy V8? That baby could cook. If I ever get around to getting my pilot's license and could justify the money for one of these (i.e., green light from the wife), I'd prefer the higher performance V8 if it fit in the T51. That would be a kick.

I'd be more tempted by a rotary.

The rotax is a nice reliable engine that is insurable - which is a big issue. It's hard to insurance for light sports replicas.
