UPDATED servers to UP 2.1

Had a quick run on it last night and everything seems to be working.

Next project is to modify all the invitational maps to support MDS so we can start getting squad events going.

Bard, would you support using the New Guinea New Brittain map on the server ? Just curious..

if it's part of the UP 2.1 standard install yes.

Unfortunately, the NGNB map is destined for HSFX and not UP / SAS due to UP's burnt bridges policy with AAA / HSFX. I checked the current map list for 2.01 just in case and its not available. We have have maps for North Korea and Southern China and B-29 alley plus a ton of others but nothing for NGNB. But I do have NGNB in its beta form in two RAR files on my desk top.

Falcon4 fragmentation of the community all over again....

Once the official patches have moving dogfight I'll likely be switching the squad servers over to the official standard so there's no more mucking about with this mod/that mod/hot fix a-b-c.

I want to have servers where everyone that has the official patch installed can click 'connect' and get in 100% of the time. Like it was pre-mod.

actually that's a really erroneous comparison.

It's more like this - having these mods is like having a Japanese bubble tea restaraunt. You limit your customer base by being specific, but then you say you can't come in unless you're wearing a blue tie with green slacks. But you're also next door to other bubble tea restaraunts that require blue ties but with red slacks.

Instead of catering to a minority (a mod flavor) and placing extra requirements beyond the minority (you need this and that enabled, but not something else) you limit yourself to only your family and friends - both of which go to the other bubble tea restaraunts unless there's already someone in your own.

Going with the official patch is like opening a mcdonalds. Everyone can come in and it doesn't matter what you're wearing.

Mods aren't catering to minority Bard, thats your POV that many don't agree with. People want CHOICE and OPTIONS, not the same old venue. Thats a receipe for disaster.

I've been regularly checking hyperlobby and comparing the number of players in servers to game version - on the nights i've checked there's a majority in 4.09m.

Easy way to quantify it is to start recording the numbers. I'll start compiling screenshots of each night and record the numbers for the top 10 servers.

Take screenshots of the players in hyperlobby (alt+printscreen with the hyperlobby window open) then open paint and press ctrl+v.

Save the file as a jpg and send it to me. You can keep a track of the values yourself as well to ensure that I am not being biased. I'll even make a set that is only the data you collect so you can confirm.
